Blue Water Freediving school were pleased to have been a part of London School of Diving’s annual Open Day. London School of Diving invited Blue Water Freediving School to give a talk on PADI Freediving which is slowly but steadily gaining interested in the scuba diving industry.
Despite a very full schedule of try dives at LSD, Adam Drzazga (Master PADI/AIDA Freediving Instructor) had a full audience for an hour session. This talk followed a PADI Basic Freediver course run for staff at LSD only a couple of weeks before.
In just that one hour, Adam managed to discuss a variety of topics with in freediving, from the history of freediving, the health benefits and the importance of taking a freediving course with a recognised and qualified Instructor. Freediving is a sport or recreational activity the extends beyond just that moment, it has a positive effect on every area of your life, it transforms how we breathe, how we connect with marine wildlife and teaches us ways to reach a place of calm in all areas of life.
Freediving skills will make a difference to your experience under water, no matter if you are freediving or scuba diving, surfing or simply snorkelling, it is a sport that is possibly one of the most underestimated, when students have completed their first freediving course it is then that they realise how much more we can do with just one breath and from there the journey of self discovery begins.
So what is Freediving? Freediving is diving underwater without the use of any breathing apparatus. Imagine this, you take one deep breath in and explore the underwater world with in your one breath ability, before resurfacing to recover your breath and explore further – however, there is a way in which one should do this to avoid potential accidents and that is why Blue Water Freediving School run courses – to teach you the do’s and don’ts of breath hold preparation, to understand and recognise the signs of the body adapting underwater and to know when it is time to surface and begin your recovery breathing. The courses have been designed and adapted over the years, as we discover that we have a greater potential than once believed, now there a freedivers who are able to hold their breath beyond 10mins, swim 300m in a pool and others who can dive to the depths of over 100m.
Blue Water Freediving School look forward to PADI freediving truly taking its place in the freediving world.
If freediving is something that you have been considering, then now is the best time to take that step and discover what freediving has to offer you.
